President Prabowo Launches Indonesia’s National Electric Motorcycle
The launch of MoLiNas represents a strategic step toward delivering more affordable, high-quality mobility while strengthening Indonesia’s industry, technology, energy resilience, and domestic value creation.
President Prabowo Subianto officially launched the National Electric Motorcycle (MoLiNas) and its supporting ecosystem at the ALVA production facility in Cikarang, Bekasi Regency, West Java, on Thursday, August 13, 2026.
Upon arriving at the facility, President Prabowo first inspected the electric motorcycle production process. He then visited the exhibition area to review the electric vehicle ecosystem showcases and signed a commemorative plaque marking ALVA’s production milestone of 20,000 units.
In his report, Minister of Investment and Downstreaming and Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM), as well as Head of the Danantara Indonesia Investment Management Agency, Rosan Roeslani, stated that the launch of MoLiNas represents an important and strategic step toward strengthening Indonesia’s economic self-reliance. This initiative aligns with President Prabowo’s directive for Indonesia to achieve greater independence and stand on its own in conducting economic activities.
“Today’s event is extremely important and strategic because, in accordance with the President’s direction, we must be independent and self-reliant, standing on our own feet in every economic activity in Indonesia,” Rosan said.
Rosan explained that MoLiNas was developed through collaboration and synergy among the government, state-owned enterprises (SOEs), and domestic entrepreneurs and companies. According to him, this collaboration demonstrates the readiness of various domestic stakeholders to support the development of MoLiNas.
“MoLiNas is the result of collaboration and synergy among the government, state-owned enterprises, and national entrepreneurs and companies, with the aim of strengthening our self-reliance. As we can see, Mr. President, all the ingredients or the recipe for our national electric motorcycle are already here in Indonesia,” Rosan said.
In his address, President Prabowo emphasized that the development of MoLiNas represents a tangible demonstration of collaboration among different elements of the nation to build national self-reliance. He noted that synergy between the private sector, SOEs, businesses, and academia is essential to strengthening Indonesia’s ability to master and develop science and technology.
“Today is a very important day. I would like to express my gratitude and appreciation to all parties involved—from private companies, entrepreneurs, and business leaders to state-owned enterprises and academia, which produces experts who form the core of research and development,” President Prabowo said.
Furthermore, President Prabowo described the collaboration behind MoLiNas as a positive example of the Indonesia Incorporated approach. According to the President, a nation’s success in the modern era is largely determined by its ability to master science and technology and apply them to sustain the nation’s development and long-term prosperity.
“Today, in my opinion, is one of the best examples of what I call Indonesia Incorporated. A nation’s success in the modern era depends on its ability to master science and technology and use that technology to sustain the life of the nation. Only then can a nation be considered successful, and a country successful,” President Prabowo said.
The launch of the national electric motorcycle reinforces Indonesia’s direction toward industrial transformation. Indonesia aspires not merely to serve as a market for global technological developments, but also to become a nation capable of mastering technology, building its own industries, and producing high-value-added products through domestic capabilities.
Through the spirit of Indonesia Incorporated, MoLiNas is expected to become a symbol of the revival of national industry and a step toward a more self-reliant Indonesia in technology, energy, and the economy.
